Mini Vacation on a Whim!

Daddy found out last Friday afternoon that he had to stay in San Diego for a late case and then had another early case on Saturday morning so mommy found a good deal on a hotel in downtown and we drove down to meet daddy. We went a favorite New York pizza parlor in Hillcrest for dinner, checked into our hotel, which was a neat old bank building downtown, then walked down the street a ways to meet the Burbaums for some ice cream. In the morning after breakfast, we waited around in the hotel room for daddy's surgery to finish. We went to Ikea and then spent the day at the beach in La Jolla. Apparently everyone in Southern California had the same idea...the beach was PACKED! We still had fun playing in the water though. This was Caiden's first time at the ocean...I think he liked the sound of the waves and took a good nap in his tent!
